Context


We are founding Orchid B, an amazing start-up that will provide end-to-end back office services to the self-employed and small & medium companies (SMEs). Orchid B helps entrepreneurs focus on their core business whilst safeguarding the business against all sorts of risks in an increasingly complex world. Its everything an entrepreneur has ever needed to help run a small business that only the biggest companies can afford.


In this context, we are looking for an ambitious and creative Chief Technology Officer (CTO) to help plan, build, deploy, and operate the Orchid B platform and offering.

Key responsibilities



  • Contribute to the definition of the Orchid B Business Plan, define the technology strategy,

  • Build an amazing engineering team covering all aspects of technology including front-end and back-end software, infrastructure, cyber security, and business continuity

  • Provide leadership and coaching to both technical and non-technical team members across the organisation contributing to the continuous development of an R&D driven culture

  • Engage and align top talent through strong recruitment, mentoring, hands-on architectural leadership, and career management

  • Establish world-class methods and standards ensuring ongoing world class operations and client service

  • Drive a continuous improvement process that will take Orchid B from the start-up stage to a globally scalable business

  • Contribute to make or buy investment decisions with a forward thinking and open attitude to building the best partnerships and prepare the technology implementation roadmap


 Candidate requirements



  • Bachelor’s Degree in a STEM discipline

  • Excellent technical expertise in software development, software architecture, quality assurance, cloud infrastructure, automated deployments, API development and management

  • Experience in the delivery of multi-user software and subsequent operational management

  • Minimum of 5 years hands-on software development and architecture experience

  • Minimum of 5 years in a software engineering leadership position

  • Experience in building and leading multidisciplinary engineering teams with previous responsibility for budgets, goal setting, and performance measurement

  • Used to setting aggressive goals by using metrics as a key driver

  • Used to working in a fast-paced high-pressure environment

  • A technically dominant and highly motivated leader aspiring for continuous improvement across his organization

  • A strong level of empathy and great team player capable of working with a highly diverse set of stakeholders

  • Experience with B2B SaaS products and services in the financial services industry

  • Previous entrepreneurial and international experience

  • Fluency in English and French
